With her proud mother present in the audience, UWI Communications Major, Nastascia McFarlane, gave yet another confirmation of the vitality of the CB/UWI 5K Scholarship Run (and Smart Eggs Kids K) as she ably guided the proceedings at the launch of the 2018 edition of the event, at the UWI Regional Headquarters last Monday, October 1. The inaugural CB Group UWI 5K Run/Walk raised $18 million which will go towards scholarships and the development of sports programmes on the UWI Mona Campus. The second CB Group/University of the West Indies (UWI) 5K is set for Sunday, November 17, at the UWI Bowl in Mona, starting at 7 a.m.

Starting this year, title sponsor Caribbean Broilers has committed to a three-year deal worth $9 million. At last year's inaugural staging, 2,500 persons participated and $18 million was raised and 20 students were recipients of scholarship awards at UWI.
