CB Group UWI 5K returns November 20

The CB Group UWI 5K and Smart Eggs Kids K will return to a road race format on Sunday, November 20, on the University of the West Indies Mona campus, after two years of going virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The event, which was launched at the UWI Regional Headquarters recently, is the major fundraiser for the University of the West Indies in collaboration with title sponsor CB Group and other sponsoring partners for the past 10 years. Another 20 students are being granted scholarships to pursue their dreams of obtaining tertiary education.

Olympic champion Parchment wants more educational opportunities for athletes

Olympic champion Hansle Parchment has called for more sports scholarships to be given to students of The University of West Indies and even from proceeds of the upcoming 10th Annual CB Group UWI 5K and Smart Eggs Kids K.

Parchment, who won gold in the 110m hurdles at the recent Olympic Games in Tokyo, was honoured at Wednesday's virtual media launch and urged the university to seek more “balance” to make it more attractive to people overseas.

CB/UWI 5K continues to touch lives of needy students

The spray of confetti filling the air signalled the start of the 2019 CB Group UWI Scholarship Fund 5K and also marked the culmination of what was another successful campaign of raising funds to help support worthy students in completing their education.
